on the iPod: "One Sweet World" -- The Dave Matthews Band
I hit the trail system for the first time in at least a month and was quickly reminded just how amazing Fayetteville is. Tons of runners out this morning. Waved and said hello to multiple friends and acquaintances along the way, including Carole Swope, a super-awesome runner that I know from St. Paul's. She's great fun.
So I'm running the Chicago Marathon with two other teachers, Mrs. Murie and Mrs. Pugh. We all teach up on the third floor and have become great friends this past year. Mrs. Murie met me this morning and it was really good to catch up with her and visit post-run, as I haven't seen her since the last day of school. She's become a great colleague and friend. Chicago will be her 8th marathon. She ran Boston this year, so I know she'll be an excellent resource as we train all summer. She brought along her cousin, U.S. Army Captain Robin Ferguson, who is home from Iraq and is training for an Ironman Triathlon. It goes without saying that running with a soldier was an honor. She'll be heading back to Iraq in August for a final tour. Godspeed to her for a safe return, and a huge thank-you to Robin for serving our amazing country.
I went to the farmer's market after the run and met up with my buddy Wes. It's always fun to spend time with him and I can't think of a better place to do so than on the square. Also ran into mom and dad and Charles. And about 1,000 other people out enjoying a nice Saturday morning.
Hoping to get in three runs at the beach next week, but will be happy if I find time for two. Nonetheless, my shoes are packed and i'm ready to go. Heck, yes!
when I let you out at XNA you had your running shoes in your hand -- glad to hear you made it to Fla. with them! -- enjoy --- d/d
